Mountain Bike through Berber villages of the Western High Atlas

Discover the Berber villages of the High Atlas and meet the friendly locals and partake of their hospitality. This itinerary will take you through some of the most splendid valleys and forests of the Toubkal Massif.

Detailed itinerary:

Day 1: Marrakech - Asni - Imlil (start point)
Pick up from Marrakech and transfer towards Asni via Tahanaout. Night at a Berber house. 17 km

Day 2: Imlil - Tachdirt
We leave from Imlil to Tachdirte through Tizi n'Tamaterte pass (2279m), with amazing views over the High Atlas Mountains. Continue until Tachdirte village. Night at a Berber house. 18 km

Day 3: Tachdirte - Oukaimeden - Ousertk - Imsker.
2 hour cycle to the pass Tizi n'Addi. Carry your own bike up to the pass, then cycle down the 'widow of Oukaimeden' and visit the engraving rupestrial rocks then head down to the village of Imsker via the beautiful and typical Berber village of Ousertk. Night at a Berber house.  25km 

Day 4: Imsker - Tansgharte - Moulay Brahim - Kik.
After breakfast, different style of biking towards Kik plateau via Tansghart and Asni then the Marabout Moulay Brahim. Night at a Berber house. 22km

Day 5: Kik - Amizmiz - Marrakech (end point)
On the last biking day, you will discover the delightful Berber village of Amizmiz, finishing the trek at ait Zitoun village, before transfer back to Marrakech. 30km

Fleece headband (to keep your ears warm), Lightweight long sleeved thermal shirt, Lightweight windproof biking jacket, T-shirts (3), Padded cycling shorts - baggy style, Underwear(4 pairs), Lightweight trekking boots, Sandals, Camelbak or 2 x 1 litre water bottles & cages, Sleeping bag, Small padlock & spare keys, Toiletries, Thermarest, Sunglasses, Fingerless biking gloves, Waterproof jacket (breathable), Fleece jumper (eg Polartec 200), Light weight ‘trekking style’ pants, Warm cycling tights, Socks (4 pairs), Cycling shoes, Spare laces, Small towel, First aid kit, Head lamp eg. Petzl Zoom (spare bulb & battery), 4 large plastic bags (for keeping items dry in kitbag )
